I recently picked up a nice vintage Lund Nisswa. I'd like to build a small casting deck that just covers the top of the splash well while not interfering with the tiller. With two batteries and the gas tank back there I don't want to add a lot of weight either. Any ideas on how to pull this off?

3/4 plywood. Could get away with smaller if its marine stuff. Build up the sides of the U shaped splashwell to a height you want. So you can have platform in a U shape over part of splashwell and covering batteries. Screwed into like where switch panel is and into the sides you built up. Obviously dont want to screw in to transom, shouldnt need to should be solid. Build a box platform in the U shape to go around extend out covering the gas tank to where the seat is and can still move. Or put seat on platform with a seat mount you can remove while stopped and casting off it. Find fittings to extend gas filler up to top of platform. Assuming theres a vent in tank somewhere, extend that up to top too. Otherwise you cant enclose tank. Hatches on each side for each battery. http://greatlakesskipper.com/ best place for all that
