I will be out and about mostly in Oneida Co. My Nephew and Brother-in-Law will be fishing with me. Last year I think we fished about 10 different lakes in 3 days of fishing. We should get at least 30 hours in if not more! I can't wait!! Good luck to everyone heading out. God bless

I will be starting on Pelican and a few smaller lakes in the area. First I have a rummage sale to get out of the way, then Sue and I will hit the water!

I am opening up the "summer estate" (travel trailer LOL) on Friday. Cooking dinner for Mrs. G on Friday eve. I am hoping to get at least 3 hours of sleep, because knowing me, I will be laying there in bed with one eye open watching the clock and just waiting for the first hint of sunrise!

I will be on Big Arb letting the muskies know that I have returned for another season of fishing! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I'll be in Oneida Co. Opening morning Jlong and I will be looking for a biggy. Then I to have garage sale duties. I can't belive the women (wife, mom, & mother-in-law)in my life didn't take my musky fishing into consideration. YEA RIGHT!!!

After that I hope to get out a couple other times with my son. I hope the weather is good.

Right now I am in Boston and it's 45 and cold. Never thought I would be saying it will be nice to get back to the weather of Northern Wisconsin.

Nail a Pig!

Mike

MRoberts,

We are having a rummage sale next weekend too, though my fiance's mom is coming to help so I can fish all weekend.

I'll be on Pelican for a while, then on to smaller water if they aren't cooperating. It's gonna feel good to be back!

Ill be hammering a small "black lagoon"... 125acres 80'deep with two clients from florida who will never find there way back to the "lagoon" again. Im already tired of walleye fishing and cant wait for the real game to begin. Good luck this season everyone.

I'm getting "the shakes" from missing the southern WI muskie opener, up to and including the northern WI opener for the first time in 17 years with my cancer treatments. Depending upon the results of a blood test this Monday and the following treatment, my opener hopefully will be the last Sunday of May on Pelican Lake.
I did get a one week reprieve by getting Thyroid Hormones temporarily for one week, while on vacation which we were blessed to be taken on in Cancun by my in-laws. The Mexican Coast Guard had closed the ports for 5 of 7 days while we were there, because of record sustained winds and corresponding high seas. Luckily we got out on one of the open days, to fish on a 31' CrisCraft. The seas started out the day at 12-15'! Luckily I have never been affected by sea sickness, however the couple that went out with me got real friendly with their very own 5 gal. buckets, which translated into more fishing for me.
I was hoping for a chance at a marlin, or atleast a sailfish, but that didn't happen. The Barracuda were too willing to bite the trolled flies and needlefish baits. We caught many Bonita, many of which started out 24-30" long but while they were being retrieved, something (probably barracuda) would leave us with only the front half of the Bonita on the hook. One fish hit and took 60-70 yards of line on me inspite of the drag being ratcheted down and my thumbs nearly smoking on the spool, before it just dropped the bait......It definitely wasn't a muskie!
The last couple hours of the trip the seas laid down to 4'-6' waves, which helped the couple which was out with me. We had a good time bottom bouncing the cut up Bonita on some very nice Groupers and Snappers (which tasted great cooked by the chef back at the resort)!

I will be doing the opener on two small lakes in Oneida county, one clear and deep and the other is flat as a pancake and dark, we'll see which one is the ticket. Water temps are in the mid to high fifties and by next weekend should climb into the sixties with fish on the move!! Best of luck to all!
