I've been out on Lake Vermillion this week for the first time. What a beautiful body of water but the only problem is I haven't seen any fish. Tried the west side fishing reefs, shorelines, and bays. Recently went back to the narrows and fished the weeds. Trying cowgirls, phantoms, topwaters, crankbaits without luck. My next guess would be trying some deeper drops on the east side of the lake with plastics. Anyone with any thoughts or suggestions?

fished Vermillion for the first time this year also. Had plenty of big fish to the boat but could not get anything to feed. Seen 75% of our fish fishing around potatoe island, All on either shallow medusa's in ciscoe or shallow mag dawgs also ciscoe. Had a few fish that were 50 or bigger. One thing is be prepared to wait in line if you check it out. There was people there every time we went to check it out.

Best bite since 2006 occured during a ten day period around the pmtt. Now the ones without sore mouths are back to there normal lock jawed selves.

People come to vermilion with TOO high expectations,,some end up having the best trip of their lives but I'm betting if they had the stats it would show that most musky guys don't catch a fish in a week vacation. Despite the pictures vermilion is no sure thing. I live here in the twin cities and I know of at least 50 guys personally who pound this thing every weekend of the season,These are pressured fish,,it would be money well spent on a guide here during your vacation to show you what's currently working at that time.

Still haven't received those waypoints indicating where they are... I remember that rock fiasco!

Vermilion has been tough the last couple of weeks.
You may hear a few good reports, but when there are at least a couple hundred guys at one given time out there, somebody is going to have success. I think if a person can catch two or three fish on a week trip, they should feel lucky. Thats on an average week.

Just wanted to thank everyone for the advice. Ended up getting a reservation at the casino RV lot for $20/night for water/electric. Never fished vermillion in the fall. Can't wait!
