Its clearly at some level an addiction. But much healthier than say crack cocaine, heroine, meth, bath salts, Leinenkugels, etc.

Posts: 1901 Location: MN | curleytail - 8/20/2015 10:45 AM I think I would be bummed if I was Mr. Dadson. His customers are making more money re-selling his baits than he is! Gotta be happy about that kind of demand though. He's the one artificially lowering supply and creating the demand by not producing more baits. He's not really here for the busines! Otherwise he'd put out more baits. But if he did that he wouldn't enjoy this aura of stupidity surrounding what people will pay for a hunk of wire, beads, blades, hooks and feathers or flash.

Posts: 2097 | It's hard for one man to mass produce a quality bait. He probably spent a good chunk of time making his 190 baits for MTO's order.

Do it soon before the stores get them in stock again. They wont fetch a high dollar for that much longer now. Dont be shy either. Guys will come right out and offer a lot more than $100 a piece... especially if theyre older hair baits. MTO sold out over 190 baits in less than hour last night. i must have been at the right place at the right time just happen to wander over there and snagged a 9mm that ive always wanted. I have two smaller vortex that i never use that i should have sold to buy the 9mm

That's my point. If he's going to limit production to just himself, and he spends most his time guiding or fishing or whatever else, then he's just not that interested in running a true bait business. More power to him though. Maybe he can start hand forming his own wire, and pouring his own beads, and really make them custom - and even less available. Think what the prices will be then!

Very true I'm sure winter will bring more baits delivered to reduce some of the crazy secondary market prices. This like every other bait crisis will pass. Just wish I knew what the next big thing will be.

Just wish I knew what the next big thing will be. That's easy it will be 10" suckers selling for $15.00 a pop because of some artificial crisis in the shortage of large sucker minnows.

Location: MN | He wasn't at the MN show. I was planning on buying a few. I don't think Johnny is purposefully limiting production. I hear the guy likes to chase giants. If you had the choice would you spend your summer doing that or making baits? Easy decision if you ask me. If any of you naysayers can't catch fish on your Dadson's send em my way. I'll even let you mark them up 10%.

Posts: 251 | I am a big fan of the Dadsons. The increased weight is great, nothing weighted the same on the market. It means you can burn them faster without them coming out of the water and they cast great. The 9mm is the perfect size too. Not as much pull so I can burn them all day. I did get a 51" on it, but probably could have with a different bucktail too. All that said, I would not pay $100 for one. My friend and I did order 7 total from MTO though. 35 a pop, still not cheap.

Posts: 1084 Location: Aurora | achotrod - 8/20/2015 11:29 AM I must say the Dadsons are much better built then CGs but despite countless hours of throwing them while having some action they have put exactly 0 fish in the net on my boat. Better or stronger? They go together the same but the wire is heavier than the CG. Attachments ---------------- APDA.jpg (12KB - 394 downloads)

Posts: 1000 | Same thing as spanky's. I really hope they never see a shortage because I love their baits. Bucktails are tools. I use musky mayhem when i need a high riding bucktail. I go spankys when I need to run deeper. So far deeper has been better this summer.

Posts: 33 Location: Ontario, Canada | Johnny is not limiting the number of baits he makes. Its just that he can only do so much as it is. The man works a regular job besides making baits and guiding clients. He also like you and I enjoys chasing giants himself when time permits. He must keep the pro staff stocked, dealers, direct orders and somewhere in there find time to sleep. Only so many hours in a day. With that said, baits are worth what someone will pay for them.

Plenty of guys will also be busy fighting for front row seats to watch guys in jerseys cast lures into a swimming pool

My two biggest fish came on rizzo whizz's. I make one color Rizzo Whizz by the dozen because they get chewed up so fast. my first over 40" came on it. One color is all you need and I've caught fish in every lake i've fished but Eagle. i fear being laughed out of the boat if i used one on Eagle.
