Bring it to Thorne and get a new tip put on.
Don't want to have it out of the rotation for too long...

Location: oswego, il | I have a few rods that I snapped the insert back in and used jb weld to keep it from popping out again. Smooth it out and make sure none of it gets into the area where the line goes it wont pop out again.

| Just replace the tip top. I wouldnt chance gluing it back in and losing a nice bait because of it. |

| I have had a few pop out towards the handle and just pushed them back in no glue and never came out again. Used the rest of the day and still going strong |

| I have super glued them back and holding still .......
It's a PITA yet gets the rod back in the water fastest if you don't have the correct size handy.
Bi-focals, standard super glue, precision glueing, then you will still have to get in there a carfully touch up sand the insert with some fine steel wool or similar.
About an hour of putzing around to get it ideal. Good news is, the ones I did never came out and I watch the braid close......no issues......smooth as a babes butt

There's nothing you're gonna do that's going to improve the smoothness of a factory ceramic insert. All you'll do is screw things up by going at it with steel wool...or anything else. As hard as most ceramics are, I highly doubt you did anything to it. Did you know you can dull a metal file on SiC inserts?!?
To the OP:
You may be able to get by with re-gluing the insert back in, but why not do the job the right way and replace the whole tiptop. It's a 5 minute job that will cost less than $5.
