Random quote: I'm not against golf, as I suspect it keeps a great quantity of the unworthy from discovering fishing!

September 26, 2015 - 7:00 am - 6:00 pm

ONE-HUNDRED PERCENT OF THE PROCEEDS FROM THIS TOURNAMENT WILL GO BACK TO THE METRO MUSKIE FISHERY.

Anglers can fish their choice of lakes. An awards program with a pork chop feed at Thorne Bros will follow a day of fishing. The grand prize, a week-long stay at Whitefish Bay Camp on Lake of the Woods and $1000, is given by draw of all anglers who register a fish in the tournament. Prizes are given to the top ten anglers and top three juniors.

George Wahl was the inventor and manufacturer of the Eagle Tail lure who passed away in 2008. The tournament was conceived as a way to honor George’s love of muskies and muskie fishing, his contribution to the muskie fishing industry, his generosity sharing information with others, and his encouragement to muskie anglers.

Participating in the George Wahl tournament is a good way to ensure that the quality of our local fishery will continue for years to come.

You can register on-line through Monday, September 21. You may register in person through closing time Friday, September 25 at Thorne Bros. in Blaine, Joe's Sporting Goods in St. Paul and Blue Ribbon Bait & Tackle in Oakdale. Entry fee is $50 per person or $100 for a family package of two adults and two juniors or one adult and three juniors.

Wow- sorry fellas, my bad. I read the opening paragraph about being sunny and 80 degrees and just assumed it was this year's results. I look forward to seeing the actual results this year. I was wrong, getting better at admitting it these days......

Thanks for buying raffle tickets!!!!!! I was selling.them at the ceremony and most of you guys who showed up there bought the max and that means more fish.
Pork chops were the yummiest ever.
180 people was a good turnout but I can't figure out why we don't get 500 in a tournament that is 100% profits for fish deal, especially when the weather is beautiful.

Duck hunting, archery season, grouse, kids back in school, football, wife sick of her husband fishing to much.
These were all reasons I heard people not fish and I fell into one of the above.
