Given the fact that Mn only allows one line per angler and I usually only have two anglers in the boat are planer boards needed for trolling? Why not just drop a line out each side of the boat and troll on?

This time of year, the fish (typically) aren't deep in the water column. Guys generally run boards w/ short leads to get the baits out a little bit from the boat, but still run their baits high up in the water column. I have only trolled for a couple hours this year, and ran my bait about 10-12' back from the board.
