I under stand how it works but in a deep lake like LOTWS is there a water temp range when that happens? How do you determined if it is in progress. I have been there in early OCT when fishing is pretty tough & other times when it was great. Seems like temps were mid 60's to very high 50's. over the years.

Its called turn over. Just google it. Is all about temp gradient equalizing throughout the water column.
