Posts: 8 | What type of electronics does everyone run up front, not brand, but features? I trying to decide if I should get downscan imaging for the front or if regular color sonar is good enough. Probably getting a pair of helix 7's. The works for the dash, and another model without sidescan for the front.

Posts: 410 Location: one foot over the line | I have a DI unit/ with chip up front and SI/DI/with chip at the console. Sure SI up front would be nice, just wasn't in my budget.

Posts: 1455 Location: Kronenwetter, WI | How slow can you run the TM and still use SI up front?

Posts: 1209 | Si works best while moving at a good speed like 3-5 mph. At say one mph you will want your graph speed as slow as it goes. You can use the si off the transom if your units can link or You actually can have 360 images with a si ducer upfront. Say just go right side 90' and smoothly turn left and you will see what's Infront of you. Now it you have an electric steer tm you will need the chart speed higher. Still my post above is 2d and map.
