| What is your ideal lense shade for flowages / stained water?
I'll be getting the 580G - just looking for some feedback from current owners.
Blue Mirror / Copper / Gray / Green Mirror / Silver Mirror
I'm guessing Copper, please advise.

Location: With my son on the water | Look at the Sierra Trading Post Web site. I picked up two pairs of 580 (amber & Dark) for less than $50 each with shipping. The web page also has a detail section of what shade glasses are meant for what type of conditions.
But watch the page regularly. After I got my glasses I was so happy with them I went to order another set and the sale was off. But it did come back on again so I grabbed another pair.

| I just got a pair of costa with green mirror glass lenses. Buy fair the best pair of glasses I've had. I've always wore H3o which are nice but not in same class as costas. |

| Copper Lens is what you get with any 580 lens with green Mirror, I believe the green mirror cuts light by 12% and silver mirror with copper cuts by 10%. They both do a good job for all around conditions. For really cloudy days consider Amber with no mirror or yellow. |

Location: oswego, il | I had a yellow lens in my fathoms and they rarely cut glare. I can only recall one instance where they were better than my green mirror it was an overcast day on a clear strip mine lake. Other similar conditions were not as well. I swapped the yellow lenses for the F30 rose\amber lens and those are great for low light. |

| The light transmission stuff was misstated previously. From the Costa website:
Green Mirror (10 percent light transmission): Encapsulated mirrors (glass lenses only) offer enhanced visual acuity for fishing inshore, flats, rivers and streams. Available in Costa 580G.
Silver Mirror (12 percent light transmission): Encapsulated mirrors (glass lenses only) optimize light transmission and enhance colors. Perfect for sight fishing or any outdoor activity with variable light. Available in Costa 580G.
Copper (12 percent light transmission): Made for sight fishing, diving, and everyday activities. Cuts glare and enhances contrast and color, providing eye comfort in any conditions. Available in Costa 580G and 580P.
Amber (12 percent light transmission): Excellent all-around lens that delivers the brightest field of vision. Great choice for fishing, driving, and activities where high contrast is needed. Available in Costa 580G and 580P.
Costa also has a specialty lens for low light conditions, the Sunrise lens.
Sunrise (27 percent light transmission): A high-contrast specialty lens that allows maximum light transmission and enhances depth perception. Perfect for activities like fishing at dawn or dusk. Available in Costa 580P. |

| I would think with dark water, you'd want more light transmission. I.e. choose copper or silver mirror instead of blue or green mirror (if you want 580G). The Sunrise lens is probably too bright for the sunny days, so probably not a good choice if you want to have just one all-purpose pair of sunglasses.
Everyone says this, and in my experience it's true - the Copper (or silver mirror) really improves color contrast. Greens, in particular, look really rich through this lens.
Keep in mind they each have the same polarization, so each lens will block light reflection off the water equally. |

| Thanks Guys, good info was looking at doing them in a prescription as well but for $600 bucks I can have a low light (sunrise) and the Copper-my eyes aren't that bad- Sounds like Copper is the base for the green mirror and is what I'm leaning towards. |
