| My friend has a new used boat with a 1999 70hp 4 stroke Suzuki. Runs really well. However, yesterday the overheat alarm came on after a 15 minute high speed run.
It has a new impeller btw.
Anyone own one of these and have a similar issue.
What's the most likely cause?

| Was the impeller installed correctly? I know theres a direction you have to put fingers to pull the up from lower unit. Also check that the intake vents are not clogged from weeds or a plastic bag. My 9.9 Johnson (made by Suzuki) has the intake vents under the cavataion plate. |

| I don't know if its possible to put the impeller in the wrong way on the Suzukis. I haven't replaced mine yet, but I looked at a vid online and based on what I was seeing it didn't look like you could put it in backwards.
Otherwise there must be some sort of intake issue. One time on an older boat I had sucked in a small rock or large piece of sand. It had partially clogged the water outlet hole. Checking the screens on the lower unit would be a good start and then making sure its got a strong stream. |

Location: Hayward, WI | First need to make sure that the motor is overheating and that is the alarm he is getting. Could be an alarm for something else or even a faulty temp sensor. Does motor have a steady stream of water from tell tale? |

| Yes. Steady stream. Light indicated hot motor. |
