Posts: 489 | Ok I've checked all my connections at both ends and everything is atleast secure. I took off the trim position indicator and made sure it moved and it moved freely. So I'm leaning towards bad gauge or bad indicator. Can anyone put into dumb peoples terms how I would check both?

Posts: 5874 | To test the gauge, turn the ignition to on and short the "S (signal/sender) terminal on the back of the gauge to batt negative! If OK, the needle moves full scale.

Posts: 489 | Ok so wiring to gauge is purple- I,black ground and brown-S. However at motor and for sender the wiring colors are blue, yellow, and black. I am using a faria gauge but can't find a wiring diagram that explains this to me. Any help? Edited by Chain Gang 6/4/2015 8:18 PM

Posts: 5874 | I is the power from the ignition switch. S is from the sensor. Ground is for the lite gnd. The blue wires are for the gauge lighting. Attachments ---------------- 839b.jpg (51KB - 253 downloads)

Posts: 489 | Ok should that correspond at the motor? As you can see the way it is wired there uses different colors and the unit itself used blue, yellow, and black.
