hi there.

im looking into the st croix avid x 7,4 fod heavy power ,fast action 3/8-1,1/2 ounce

for throwing jigs for pike. hair jigs 1 ounce +-
it should be great for throwing that but is it strong enough to handle a 40 + inch pike.
(my mojo musky 7,2 fod medium power up to 3 ounce is at bit to stiff for the 3/4 ounce hair jigs in my opinion)

i was also looking at the mojo bass 7 fod slop-n-frog stick and the legend tournament bass flipping stick-but it kind of a lot of money when its kind of a try ind the blind.
(we dont have those rods here ind denmark!)

and the mojo,s got mixed reviews,so i though the avid x is a nice in between.

anyone got the chance to try them out?

pros and cons are really wellcome. thanks

sebastian.

I own a ton of St. Croix rod and the slop n frog is a rod I would stay away from.

I didn't think the rod loaded well. They don't get much love but look at the st croix rage line up. I think a medium heavy would be plenty of power. Or a cabelas XML on sale for 75 bucks. To each his own but no substitute for feeling the rods. You know what you want better then anyone else. I went to the XML for my application and its a great rod and a smoken deal at 75 bucks.
