I got some pre tied skirts for my bucktails. Maybe a dumb question but how do I put them on?

Posts: 246 Location: Grand Marais, MN | i dont think there is any way to put a pre tied skirt on an already made bucktail without cutting it and assembling the old components and the new skirt on a new shaft, not super difficult to do either. Dont know if the split rig thing was a joke or not. of course if you really wanted to avoid cutting the shaft of an existing bucktail, you could try and tie a big wad of loose flashabou onto the shaft of the existing bucktail. this you would potentially not work with your pre tied skirt though

I cut the skirt apart and tied it on with some braided kind and a dab of glue. We'll see how it holds up.

I think he was just using it as a wrapping material to tie the skirt on, then glued it down. Braid could probably do just as good a job as polyester thread that a lot of people use to tie the skirt on a bucktail. I think he'll be fine

Posts: 2027 | Learning to rebuild a beaten up bucktail on new wire seems like a good idea to me.
