I looking at buying a Knipex hook cutter. I see that they make a spring loaded one and one that is not spring loaded. Just wondering which one works better. or what one everybody else uses or recommends.

I use the one that is not spring loaded and they work fantastic. They're a bit cheaper too. Also, if you order than from Sears instead of a tackle shop you can probably save yourself $20 or $30.

I use the 8" lever action. Fifty bucks at Menards now.

I keep a big pair of manly bolt cutters in the boat.

Buy whichever fits your budget. Just buy Knipex. I have spring loaded because it was on sale for $27

IMO, the spring-loaded ones are easier to use with one hand while you're holding an uncooperative fish and having to cut multiple hook points.
