Subject: The rites and wrongs of spring!

My friend found a 50" (exactly, believe it or not, I know it's very ironic) muskie half buried in muck in the bottom of a bay on Pelican Lake, WI. this past Saturday morning. The anglers lost their prize catch by drilling the fish too hard and sticking it into the muck and retrieving their angling tool without the catch. They must not have read the night fishing article about throwing out a glow in the dark bouy on the spot and retrieving your catch after the muck cloud settles. I'm sure these poor guys didn't go home with nothing, but carrying out your spring rite rituals just like you great great forefathers did ($15000+ boat, Boeing brand aircraft landing lights mounted on the front of your boat, metal spears, Gortex, and playing tomtom music out of a boom box), and coming home with one less must have been very disappointing, since it meant one less muskie meal for Cheif Perchunkkerwhack's dogs. It goes to show you that trying to manage northern Wisconsin lakes is like trying to keep $0.01 in a "Take one, leave one" penny tray at a Holiday station in the section 8 riddled areas of Minneapolis. We are less than one week from the Wisconsin walleye opener, so please remember to purchase the 3 limit (3 tablespoons) size tartar sauce shot glass jar, since they get kinda funky after being opened after one year. Here's another suggestion, after you and your buddies get off the lake with your limit (9:30 a.m.-noon at the latest), go over to over to the "Mole face Chunky Ho Gambling Palace of Flames" and thank them for saving you $700+ this coming year on a graphite muskie replica! Have a great 2003 Wisconsin and Minnesota (now thanks to someone of the LDF tribe you knew someone, who knew someone that went to law school or heard of the A.C.L.U.) fishing season.
