Location: Northern Wisconsin | Any thoughts on the new version of the calcutta conquest ? Looks like its got a slightly higher gear ratio than the TE. Should be a good all purpose reel ? http://www.plat.co.jp/shop/catalog/product_info/language/en/product...

Posts: 246 Location: Grand Marais, MN | Hope they bring them stateside sometime, but who am I kidding I won't be able to afford that reel probably around $500. They have brought the 100 and 200 conquest over here so that's a good sign

Location: Latitude 41.3016 Longitude 88.6160 | I'll have a 300 and a 400 out on the water this spring. I'll be selling off all my 300D and 400D reels for the ConQuest.

Posts: 46 | Ill be curious to hear what you think Pikemaster. The 300 size is supposed to be the size of the old 200 with a larger line capacity. The 400 is a bit smaller then the old 400 or so I've been told. Ive been tempted to get one from Jun at Japantackle for awhile now. Preorder price of $459.

I think I could sell them now for at least as much as I paid for them years ago. That, of course, won't be happening...

Posts: 1660 Location: central Wisconsin | I would try one of the new Conquest's. Although it has several features of the 400D such as the full width thumb bar and dis engaging level wind that I didn't care for. Pretty tough to improve on the TE's. And, Dan you are correct, one in great condition is worth new prices and more.

Posts: 1638 Location: Minnesota | Yep the TE is a great reel .I have a few just for backups. A few years back I was fishing vermilion another guy jumped in my boat . It was in the fall so it was cold out he had 2 cheaper setups both reels craped out on him. Pulled out one of my TE ' S and he was back fishing. He thought I was nuts paying that much for a reel. I told him that's why mine were working and his were in the bottom of the boat. .

Posts: 778 | Coming from an Abu guy, but it look's like Shimano raised the bar again. I think Abu would be wise to add a 5000 and 6000 size to their re-introduced Morrums. That would be cool, but they would be a very expensive reel. Kdawg

Posts: 349 | Cool looking at some of the Shimano JDM reels that we don't get over here. The OCEA Calcutta 300 HG is the one that caught my eye... 32 IPT, 2.75" power handle, 12.5 oz, available in lefty... BUT no spool breaks ![]()

Posts: 865 | Is it true that Shimano dealers in USA will not repair these Conquests under warranty. They must be returned to japan.???? is this correct. I was told that when I bought a pair of them two years ago, never had them break so never found out.
