So when trailering my boat the other night my net took a tumble down the interstate. we can say that it is no longer usable. It was a frabil power catch, and i had just put the 4666 bag on it (literally that day). I was pretty happy with he power catch other than all the replacement bags would rip holes in them and the hooks would get so tangled it would take ten minutes just to get the lure out. that being said the 4666 bag is still kinda in tact, some of the top loops you run it through are ripped out, so i would have to cut the top row out and run the new net through the 2nd row if i wanted to use that bag.

now on to the real question, what net would you guys recommend, and also do you think the 4666 bag i have is usable, or junk now that the top row of loops is ripped?

I appreciate any input!

Are you saying the other bags you had were the 4666 model too and they didn't hold up and tangled easy? I have a Frabill Big Game Powercatch and I think it uses the 4666 bag. I don't have a single break in the netting and it is very resistant to tangles and hooks. Mine must be going on 10 years old and has no issues.

Regarding re-using the bag without the top loops - You could always try it and see. You'll lose a little depth to the bag and not sure how smoothly it will lay across the hoop, but for what they cost I would probably at least give it a try and see how it works. If the net handle and hoop are fine but the bag is toast I would order another of the same bag if it were me. In my experience they are heavier than others, but perform very well in every other category.

No the previous bags were not the 4666. the net and handle are the pieces that are completely toast. looks like a few semis had their way with it........

Gander Mountain in Green Bay had the frabill power catch nets on sale last weekend for $97. You could buy the hole thing and switch out the bag. That's what I just did. Or you can call frabill and replace the parts pretty cheaply.
