Doing a family vacation here with my dad and some friends. I know it isn't a trophy system. Anyone know anything about Otter Lake? Is there a better lake for musky? Any details appreciated. Will be taking out a bunch of rookies, so I'd like to get them into some action.

I know the pmtt is out there in June, my trip is in July. If you don't want to post too much info, shoot me a PM. Thanks in advance!

Every lake holds lots of fish...covering water usually works best for us....especially around the time you'll be there. Burning blades, and topwaters are a good bet.

I would recommend watersmeet lake, I think that is the best section of the eagle River chain

I think that Yellow Birch has more muskies in it per acre than most every other lake in Vilas County. Friend of mine taught me how to fish it 20 years ago. Get out early in the morning. Pick a shoreline, get on the break and cast your topwater bait. When the sun comes up switch to a twitch/minnow bait or bucktail.

I've since "fine tuned" my technique on the chain to include casting to timber and docks as cover. Tons of fish in the wood. And if you see the tops of weeds on the surface, hit that edge hard. The thicker the weed patch, the more likely it is holding a fish.

It really is that easy. And I do like to retreat to the river when the pleasure boaters finally get out. That chain can get nuts.
