just got an evinrude troller 24volt and cant get it to work. Plug is 3 pronged locking L530 30A 125V. I have connected red and black wires and have power to back of receptacle but motor doesnt work. Receptacle has screw for ground wire but the previous installation on another boat did not use a 3rd wire. looks like just the two wires coming from the unit to the plug. Before I panic that the motor is bad (relatively new) am I doing something wrong? Season opener in 5 days! help!

Call me and I can help you troubleshoot it over the phone. Make sure you have 24 vdc 1st thing. 2nd, check to make sure that your male plug is actually making contact with the female receptacle. Could be that the recpt. is worn out. The contacts inside can spread apart so that the male prongs cannot make contact. (all you dirty old men get your minds out of the gutter).
