I will be fishing in the morning after this cold front goes through. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should use. The water temps should still be in the upper 40s to low 50s. Also, I was thinking about dragging a sucker for a few hours. Is it productive this time of year?? Thanks in advance for any informtaion.

RW:

Live bait is a good choice in early spring as in the fall period. I think you will have better success though using 6-8 inch chubs over suckers at this time of year. For artificals, I like to use smaller (6") baits fished slowly. Pulling rubber creatures along the bottom of bays and along weed edges can also be productive.

Randy - I once saw an In-Fisherman show where they were facing the conditions you've described. They were after pike and the brutes wouldn't look twice at anything but dark colored bass jigs tipped with rubber creatures. The pike hammered those slowly fished jigs. The guys were fishing the warmest waters they could find, usually the backs of shallow and dark-bottomed bays.

Why don't you just use what worked for you the other day when you got 4 in 40 minutes????????????????
