| I put this into the general message board as well. How late do you use surface baits and what determines when you put them away for the year? |

|
| I keep my topwaters in my box until the 1st of November. But I start taking my faster prop baits out. I have done well at times on Hawg wobblers in 50 degrees in the fall. Why, I dont know,,, I just get a gut feeling. |

| I have taken fish on topwater as late as the last week in October.
I don't throw them much but like
Jason said "sometimes you just get a gut feeling".
I only use them when I think the conditions are perfect, like a
warm indian summer evening or in
low light at dawn or dusk.
Some of the best fish come when using less traditional tactics, I enjoy doing things others won't try.
It can payoff big at times, if not
just mark it down as a learning
experence.[] |

| How deep of water should topwaters be fished that late into the season?

| I'll use surface lures into late October (usually a Topper Stopper). I usually fish them in shallow water where the tulibees spawn. Have done well on Leech, Vermilion, Baby,Mann and Inguadona on surface lures this late in the year.
