I bought a gallon kit a year or so ago, before that I used a smaller kit of alumilite. I can't really say much between the two other than FC-50 being cheaper. If I recall correctly Specialty Resins offers many different resins with different hardness/brittle characteristics. I remember researching before I bought it and settled on 50 for whatever reason... I don't remember. All of the lures I have made have been trial and error pieces so they haven't gotten much water time- that's why I can't give much more info than price. Overall it seemed like a good product, maybe something worth checking out in a small amount to see if you like it.
