I have a gen 1 hds 8. I am running a lakemaster chip in it now. I am looking to upgrade to something newer. I have been looking a the Lake Insight hdv14 and the lake insight prov14 chips. Will one of these work in my gen 1 unit. or is there a better chip to buy. I do all my fishing in Minnesota.

Both of them will work in your gen 1 HDS 8, it just depends which chip you like more. The pro would better compare to a normal lakemaster chip and the HD would better compare to the lakemaster insight. I never much cared for the HD 3d look but the next guy might love it.
