Went passed Channel, Catherine, & Marie today 3/22, all were not yet fishable, (no loss, ha ha). Marie was best with about 1/2 ice.

Things are looking much better.

You could launch at Barnacle Bob's on Marie. There is still some ice up in the bays. Be careful if going out and putting your boat up on plane. Sheets of ice just under the water could slice off your transducers, etc... off your transom. The channel between Channel and Marie is completely open.

You could launch at Bob's Marina on Catherine. Catherine is pretty much open except for some ice on the North end near Trevor Creek.

You could launch at Mentones on Channel.

There is still ice in the West Bay on Channel. I wouldn't recommend launching at McDermott's just yet.

The rain tonight will help as well as some wind. The way things are going, it should be totally opened up by this coming weekend.

Venture safe!

Dodged a few ice cubes today but was able to fish 3 of the northern lakes, nothing but a few silver bass and 1 small kitty cat.

Went out for a couple hours yesterday. No fish, but did see some new weed growth in Channel and Catherine. Very small patches. Water temp was 46.

Hit it for about 2.5 hours (Dad got cold, and it wasnt a fish catching day regardless), water up on Channell and Catherine is nice and clear, temps in the 41-43 range, still lots of dead junk weeds around, but the new stuff is coming up here and there.
You know its a bad weather day on the Chain when you only see 2 other boats on a Saturday morning.

I was supposed to hit the chain on Saturday but took a pass. To Damn cold. I will save my cold weather fishing until Oct-Nov.

Was out on the Chain on Sat. The H2O temps were in the mid 40s. Didn't move anything shallow. Missed one nice fish trolling the 15 to 20ft range. Partner needs to learn to run the boat better. Oh well, maybe this weekend.

Hey Guy's!
I'm heading out on the chain today and was hoping for a good report, but it looks like it is gonna be a beautiful day and if I catch only a buzz I'll be a happy girl.
You guy's are never gonna guess who I'm going out with today....
Go ahead....guess!
Tune in later, it should be an interesting day!!

Well,I survived the day on the chain with my "Husband"!! Can you believe it?
We did have a few "issue's" to start with...The winds were high at times 20-30mph gusts and 3-4 foot rollers on Marie and Channel. It was not the time to find out the trolling motor and graph weren't working. I did manage to set up on some nice drifts but wasn't really able to control it in the open water. I did have one "Hottie" come up on a crappie colored "Bandit" Musky Trap lure (casting secondary breaks). It was a small fish 30"ish at best. I marked temps in upper 40's - lower 50's . I did talk to a group of guys at Barnacle Bob's and they mentioned the DNR netted a 49" this past week, anyone else hear this??

Anyway, I'm glad we got out on the water to enjoy the warm weather, and managed to "both" return to fish another day.

I hear it was actually 49.5" and pre-spawn. This is 3rd or 4th party info though.
