Posts: 1996 Location: Pelican Lake/Three Lakes Chain | Obviously there have been many turns of events that have irked and irritated many a M1st member over the last couple of weeks. That combined with nearly a half a year of Muskie fishing inactivity has gotten to many of us, myself included. My suggestion is simple, let's once again use this board to prepare ourselves to do battle again this spring, with fish, however, not ourselves. Let's go back to which type of lake is better for spring, which baits and which size baits, etc, and put a long off season behind us.

NormAL, I could tell you were beginning to obtain that 1,000 yard stare at Cave Run; when we came up on you and Troyz in that small patch of standing timber off to the side of the channel...you were just sitting there w/ that chem light hanging from your rod staring into space...I told meself then, "He needs someone to talk to...should I say something?" but by the time I finished talking to myself, you had drifted off down the lake...I realized later we should have engaged in a group hug, but at the time I was mesmerized by that bright green bait swinging back and forth off the end of your rod and lost me train of thought...it has been a tumultuous spring; although I am rarely aware of what is going on around me until a few days later, and can only reflect back as to exactly what happened, and only then vaguely. Let us now face the sun, and as Jiminy Cricket says, let our conscious be our guide. May Gepeto be our inspiration as we seek to carve out a better year than the previous, and as the horned toad settles in the twilight, let us follow the course to which he points...all along the watch tower, the wind cries Mary; and then along came Mary, as well as Peter and Paul...soon there will be smoke on the water, time will be on your side, and we'll be singing goodbye cruel world, I'm off to join the circus! Chin up, head back, set the hook, keep out the slack...

Posts: 32919 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Sponger, I am betting not more that a couple here know what a horned toad, (or as I knew them as a lad from in New Mexico, a Horny Toad) even is! Blood out of the corners of the eyes and hiss like mad, unless you turn 'em over and rub the belly, in which case they sleep. I tried that figuratively on some adversaries lately, and worked, it did! Norm, you are right. All in all though, things have been pretty calm, considering. Pretty reasonable group we have here, I think. Except maybe for that Worrall guy. He is nutz. I know this, because I know him pretty well.

True Stever! Works on women too; the hard part is getting them flipped over, but once accomplished and they are asleep, you can then go do what you want. Since their actions much resemble that of a horned toad when frightened or angry, I've found it easier to pacify them w/ cash and a promise!:O

Location: Athens, Ohio | Sponge, I cracked up reading your latest signature quote! Given recent events in California, one may add: "There's nothing unusual about a little cement in the boat!" Now I know why my wifey won't fish with me! m

Dude, that quote was from the S.B. episode when the Krusty Krab was being checked out by the Health Inspector; daggone funny too! ![]() *Mikie, you gotta convince her that a sack of Portland cement makes a great seat!;) Edited by Sponge 4/23/2003 9:12 AM

Location: Athens, Ohio | Yeah, Sponger, I'd better cut this off now. Any more cracks about Sackrete and two five gallon buckets for seats could come back to haunt me if anything ever did happen to the poor girl. Wow, do I need to get on the water. Raze is gonna hook me up with one tomorrow, I just know it. m

Posts: 2384 Location: On the X that marks the mucky spot | (BIG BREATH!)....aahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Teck and I took the day off (I did and he's layed off) and fished Clear Lake yesterday. I do have to say I feel very relaxed and much more agreeable. Side note, Clear had a 4' visibility with water temps rising to 59 deg by late afternoon! Teck caught (snagged) a couple carp, otherwise no fish all day. Even still, it sure beat work! Good luck to everyone going down there this weekend. I wish I could go, but I've got a ton of relitives coming in from out of town for the baby shower this Sat.
