Posts: 355 Location: Vilas County, WI | With Show season upon us, are there deals to be had purchasing a new boat at an actual 'Boat Show'? Or is it all Boat Show hype and I can pay the same (without the show pressure and headaches) at a dealer? Just curious, and thanks for your feedback. I've never purchased brand new but have been kicking the idea around.

Posts: 1638 Location: Minnesota | There are deals to be made.i t think a lot has to do with what boat your looking at. Last year at the Minneapolis boat show there were 2 different rangers dealers 2 skeeter dealers.all depends on what show you go to. You can get a better deal if you buy one they have in stock vs ordering one. It's like buying a car do your home work first so you know if it's a deal or just another line there giving you.

Posts: 4080 Location: Elko - Lake Vermilion | Shows do have some pretty good deals.... However this was my experience the last time I bought a NEW Boat. I had my eye on a certain boat at a show in MPLS. years ago. I really wanted this rig, but didn't qualify for a loan at that time. 14 months later it was still on the Dealers Lot for Sale. So I made a deal and paid $10,000. less than when I looked at it at the show. The moral of this story is: Sometimes Patience does pay off....and Buy what you want. Never settle for Less. Most dealers are stocking fewer boats than they did 10 years ago and are motivated to keep their inventory current.

Posts: 355 Location: Vilas County, WI | Plenty of good info here... Thanks for the feedback. I have already ran into the free electronics and small motors issues from sales reps. I really have no use for the free graphs - if I'm buying new I want it outfitted exactly how I want it. It seems like some dealers are more pro-active in outfitting a boat 'my' way vs other dealers who are trying to convince me to do it 'their' way with 'their' package.

Something I noticed was that some of the manufacturers were offering extended warranties at the shows. Just another factor to consider.

Posts: 138 Location: Aurora IL | working the Chicago show this week. there are some great deals going on. we have some boats marked 6k less than they were at the shop. depends on the brand, some want to increase their market share and are really going for it. I would definitely shop the shows this year. Bill
