Posts: 56 | I have been working on some lure repaints. After showing some friends the finished product, I am getting quite a bit of pressure to sell some of them. Just curious what some of you would recommend for pricing. Do you charge a certain amount above the lure price, or is there a different method that you use to determine what is the fairest price? Have been viewing the site for a while, just finally had a question I wanted to ask. There are many talented people on here, and I really appreciate the artwork that you create. Many have been used as inspiration. Thank you in advance.

Posts: 791 Location: WI | Let's see some pics! In all seriousness it really depends on your skill level and demand. Put them up for what you think there worth. If they sell you know. By seriously let's see some pics Edited by Trophyseeker50 1/5/2015 3:07 PM

Posts: 46 Location: Addison,IL./ Hayward Wi. Chippewa Flowage | That's a really good question. First,do they want you sell your lures that you repainted. Or do they want you to repaint their lures? Lets say in both cases they're just easy repaints with very little prep work. If it's your bait that you repainted you should be able to get what the lure cost new. If its their lure I would say you'd have to charge slightly less than what a new lure would cost. Now,if you're talking about guys sending you lures that have to be completely rebuilt and they want very detailed custom paint jobs you're talking even more than new lure cost. Maybe 25 to 50% more. You're probably going to have to give out quotes to people in those situations. One time I had a guy send me two wooden gliders that looked like hell and the worst part was that they didn't even work right when I water tested them. Not only did I have to tear them apart to rebuild and repaint them I had to internally weight them so they would glide properly. Normally I should have charged atleast 35.00 a piece on that. I knew the guy so I only charged him 40.00 for both. Anyway, this is just my opinion and I hope I helped you a little atleast. I sure would love to hear others opinions about this.

Posts: 1530 | totally depends on lures size... plastic...wood? stripped?. I have re-painted lures for 30 years. stores on dead stock.. charterboats and the sportsmans tackle box beaters. like posted above many variables.

Posts: 56 | Thanks for the replies. I guess I should have been more clear. The painting is more of a custom paintjob rather than repainting lures they already have. I included three perch pattern lures, and a peacock bass pattern copy of Solarfalls, just on a jointed lure. I am not much of a photographer so they don't look as good here as they do in person. Let me know what you think. Thank you

Posts: 56 | I also experimented with making my own eyes on the peacock bass. I have a couple of perch patterns in progress that I will also make my own Eyes for the effect.

Posts: 791 Location: WI | Like I said before just take what you have into the bait. plus what you feel your paintjob is worth and put it up for that. If you get what you ask them the price was right. When I started doing custom paints are used to charge as little as four dollars. Obviously that was normal spray clear and pretty basic paint jobs all things considered now my paint jobs range from 12 to 20+ dollars really Depends on the demand. I charge what I feel is fair for the time I have involved and I am booked out as long as I can see. Fun hobby. Edited by Trophyseeker50 1/5/2015 9:27 PM

Posts: 369 | It all depends on what type of lure it is. Jointed lures are more to paint and wood are more than plastic. The condition of the lure also matters and if i have to remove the old paint or not. Plus how much detail they want. Also depending on how many times I need to clear coat it

Posts: 56 | Thanks for the replies guys. These are all Storm Kickin' Sticks in various sizes, mostly the 8" version. They are all brand new, and purchased at a very good discount. They were ugly or plain when new, I just thought I could dress them up.
