If moving towards a dual consul boat, is it better to go full windshield of double bubble? Wondering if one makes the commitment to a second consul to give passenger protection is it better to have the full windshield because the bubble does not really give protection.

I have fished out of both. If I was moving to a double console, I would definitely go to a full windshield.

If your going to give up the floor space to have a second console you may as well go full windshield . If you do any late Nov. and Dec. trolling a windshield, standup top, and propane heater are heaven especially after dark or when windy. We don't see a lot of open boats late season on the Larry but when we do the guys are coming off the water looking like popsicles

I went from a signal bubble to A dual bubble I would have gone to the full windshield but it was tall to fit in my garage. I have to take the cover off the motor just to get it in.

47 how tall is your garage door? I'm actually looking at the MX1825.

Poor weather and the cold temps of spring and fall has full windshield vote. But hot summer days and the double bubble excells

Full windshield, without a doubt.

The double bubble serves no purpose.

I have a full windshield MX1825 with 150 4-stroke and it fits in my 82" tall garage, but I have to tilt the motor down.

My double is much nicer then nothing but when it gets really cold I sure wish it was a full windshield.

I noodled on this for two years before buying my Ranger in 2013. A trip across Red Lake into a 20-25mph head wind in a boat with a full wind shield sealed the full windshield for me. I run an 1860 angler and have never felt cramped by the windsheild. I really liked the MX1825 but the smaller front deck paired with a full windshield was a big part of why I went with the 1860.

Like said above if your going to have dual consoles I would go for the full windshield. I fish with two buddies that have double bubbles. One Lund and one yarcraft 209 both windscreens are nearly useless. I fish big water though.

i love the look of a dual bubble, but we went out on a rainy/sleety/snowy November day and the MX1825 windshield was the most wonderful thing in the world. I showed up with goggles and stuck to my sunglasses all day. May as well have been October.

For a first post (been reading a while) I'll go against the grain - I've owned all three, singe and double bubble and full windshield...

What I don't like about full windshield is that when I've got a big fish on and need to move around the boat, getting though that ribcage high slot on the full windshield can be a problem.

I went double bubble.

I live and fish in NW, WI, and fished until the day before our lakes froze up this year, as I always do.

On big water with cold temps or rough conditions a full windshield is hard to beat. Use the trolling motor to position the boat when you have a fish hooked and there is no need to chase it around the boat. Hard to imagine a fish that can't be kept in position with proper use of the trolling motor.

So my dad has a DC boat. He first shortened the height because it was soo tall. Then after us hardly using the center section we pulled it out. The trucks seam to get better mileage pulling hundreds of miles to the lake. Then never ended putting the center in the boat when it was cold. So eventually got double bubbles on it to eliminate the narrow feeling between the windshields. But that being said in a Warrior boat you don't get wet. Bubbles for us all day.

Walk throughs offer much better protection from wind, rain, and sleet, but also catch more wind and can get in the way of casting or moving about the boat.
I chose the walk-thru on my MX1825 because as I get older I want the most protection from the wet and cold as I can get and the React keel and 36 volt Terrova will make catching wind with the windshield a non-issue.

I looked at it from the perspective that I spend far more time fishing than driving the boat around, even in cold weather. I've fished out of a lot of (and owned one) full windshield boat, they got in the way far to often.

It's all a personal preference and what's most important to you. I cast only and fish 3 often. I prefer single console and no windshields. Double bubbles look good but are more decoration than anything. In my opinion, consoles and windshields are all in the way when actual fishing is going on. Yes it's cold in Canada in October and the sleet and snow stinks sometimes but goggles work fine. The passenger can sit on a cushion on the floor with there back to the wind and sleet. Works out fine usually. If I had too, double bubble.

That's why I have a tiller. Seriously though if you troll cold weather the big windshield is great. If your a caster I`m not sure it`s worth it for the small amount of time you are actually running the boat. Kinda hard to hide behind the windshield while casting.

I too have had a tiller, side console and full windshield. No denying a full windhsield is great on a crappy day... but to the point above - I fish far more than I drive the boat at high speeds. After having a full windshield that was constantly in the way I have gone back to a tiller. Would I consider a side console again - yes. But the full windhsield I found to be a pain the majority of the time.
