Cave Run seems to be the same as it was when the muskie first was here. Wed. had three fish in the boat,Thursday had four fish in the boat, yesterday just one. Yesterday was tough for some reason. The water temp. is perfect. A small cold front is going to pass sometime this weekend. The weather man says tommorrow but we all know how they are wrong 90% of the time. Half the fish we have caught have been on rattle traps, the rest on twitch baits. Really dont matter what color or anything. The biggest fish we have got through today is a 40. If anyone is planning a trip to Cave Run next week you should really see some fish. I've been so busy trying to fish and run the store I can't get on computer enough. Just like before shallow-shallow!!!!!!!!! I hope this helps you if are coming. Looking forward to seeing everyone!!!!!!!

Thanx Justin
Todd (my son) and I will be coming down for the banquet on April 12th.
We are going to bring the boat down to fish about 6 hours on Sat and a few hours on Sunday before we have to head back to Pittsburgh.
This will be our first time on Cave Run. Where do you suggest we launch so we can get right into the action?
We only have a 18 hp motor so we don't want to waste time taking a boat ride.
Do I need a permit to launch? If so, where can I get one late Friday night or first thing Sat AM.

Thank you in advance,
Marty ([email protected])

Marty you can put in at Warix Boat Ramp. If you want start fishing right there,or come out of Warix to the first hollow on the right and fish that. You need a launch pass, you can get one here at the store. We should be here early Sat. morning. I just got in today from fishing-SLOW! I had one short fish on and it got off. Seen one other. Once this cold front goes through things will be just like this past week. Looking forward to seeing you guys have a safe trip.

Justin I am looking for a place to stay for the PMTT event, do you know of any places you could send us to. The comfort inn would be great but I think they will be full by now. What do you recomend? E-mail me when you get a chance, do you remember me from the Muskiefirst outing(3rd place) I talked to you enough at the dinner. See what you can come up with or let me know if I should ask elsewhere. Any web sites, e-mails addys or phone numbers would be very helpfull. Also my Undertaker maker is interested in dealing with your store, we need to talk about getting you and him set up. Talk to Ma and Pa about this and drop me a e-mail. Thanks again for your help.

Mike try the comfort inn 606-780-7378 or try Garvins at 606-784-3554 if they don't have a room you will have to stay at Morehead. They have a Shoneys Inn, Best Western, Ramada on and on. Call me here at the store and tell me if you found a room or not. 606-780-4260. I hope this helps you a little bit. C-Ya

Marty sorry that it took so long for me to get back in touch with you I've been covered up all week. The cabin fever challenge is here at Cave Run this past week and I had to guide also what a week. The fish are the same way as put in report last time. I'm still fishing shallow-shallow!!!!!!!! You know it a RATTLE TRAP!!!!!!! You have to stay on the spot keep going in circles until you get sick of looking at that spot. The only difference is the last couple of days the rattle traps are 1oz. So have someone throw a 1oz and someone throw a 3/4. I hope this helps. Sorry it took so long. The fishing is going to get better and better if the weather holds on for us. Good Luck.
