Location: WI | It's a big fish. Be happy you caught it and don't worry about if it was a number that someone else thinks is important. At least you got a picture of it! My first big fish didn't get a good measurement (held over a floating stick ruler with no tail pinch) or a picture. |

| For the upper 40" fish and beyond, I've really found that you don't get much "pinch." Their tail is so fat and stiff that that tail fin doesn't really fold back to give you any additional length. Either the top or the bottom point of the tail fin is usually longer than the other, so try top and bottom and go with that.
