Posts: 83 Location: Des Moines Iowa | I am thinking of having a rod built for my Uncle and would like suggestions on rod builders. This would not be a muskie rod, pretty much the opposite, an ultralight. Anybody have any suggestions for a good builder?

Posts: 1638 Location: Minnesota | Thorne Bros talk to Lonnie. They can build you a pan fish rod for ice fishing to a xx heavy musky rod.

Posts: 753 | Agree on TB. Lonnie is the best in the biz (IMHO). If you want to pimp it out a bit with fancy wraps etc Frank of Franks Customs does awesome work as well

Posts: 75 | H. Gil Rods made my custom Big Nasty and it turned out amazing. Don't think he has a full site, but he's on Facebook. I highly recommend him.

Don't know if they are still around but red barn rods do customs with hardwood handles. It dramatically increases sensitivity for those little fish to walleyes.

Posts: 4053 Location: Land of the Musky | Tuscarora for sure. He can build you any rod to any specifications. "We are proud to offer builds on a variety of quality blanks including St Croix, Lamiglas, Mudhole MHX, Batson, TFO, Orvis, and Tackle Industries to name a few. If there is a blank out there that you want, we can get it for you. Our guide selection includes Fuji, American Tackle, and Pacific Bay. We offer handle options in full-grip or split-grip with materials including cork, EVA, hypalon, and x-flock in a variety of colors. Additional options like snake skin inlays, marbling, and Scott Throop tiger wraps are an inexpensive way to add a touch of class to any build." http://tuscaroratackle.com/rods/ James
