Minnesota lake by chance? There is one in MN. That's known to have those in numbers, but can't recall the name of the lake.

Those kinds of fish show up in any lake that has a stocking program. It's said that this is result of raising the fish in rearing ponds prior to stocking...

I think it is some kind of common genetic effect. Not sure about the stocking theory because I have caught several in LOW where I don't believe they stock any Muskies.

We call them Snubbies.

Yah, we've got a few over the years on LOTW that the beak didn't look quite right.
