| What reels do you guys use for trolling? I have a tranx right now but not sure if its suitable |

Location: Eastern Ontario | Shimano Tekota 500 & 600 some like the 700.
Okuma Convector or Coldwater 30 is a less expensive option that holds up well lots of these used buy the salmon guys and if a Chinook and Muskie were tied tail to tail the Muskie would drown every time.

Location: Eastern Ontario | Expensive reel to use trolling but if it has a clicker and good drag it would work. I don't see a clicker listed in the description.
You can get a Convector 30 for less than $100. |

Yes, I had a friend who trolled with a tranx, a conservation officer seen him doing it and threw him in jail with out a trial. So be careful!
No trolling isnt bad on a tranx, but like it was said before thats a very expensive reel to do it with. It will work just fine and like any other non line counter reel. |

Location: oswego, il | I have Okuma magda 20's, 30's, and a couple diawa sealine reels. All are great but I really like the bigger Okuma handles for bringing in the tx44 boards, it males a huge difference. The diawas are a real chore bringing those in. All hold up well, have caught many many fish, are 15 years old and not been apart. |

Location: Money, PA | I've tried just about EVERY trolling reel out there. PENN 320 gti, still had the best and smoothest drag out there, but they never really had a nice line counter; which for me is essential for trolling and consistency. The Tekota is great, but expensive and the clicker not very loud.
Best reel for overall quality and value IMHO is the Okuma Catalina....I have one thats 10 years old and holding strong! Loud as Hell clicker and smooth drag. It is a tank! Okuma COnvectors are good too, but do not last quite as long. |

Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | Okuma Convectors or Okuma Magdas (if you're looking to save some coin). Go bigger for boards or hard pulling big cranks. 30 series for all around.
I have 16 of these. Broke one when my big b*tt landed on a handle and the other was a Magda that a friend of mine put the lumber to a really big rock. The rock lost. |

Location: Sycamore, IL | I've been using the Saltist linecounters all season
and really like them. Loud clicker, good drag and fast line pick-up. Only issue has been my counter fogs up on humid days sometimes.

Location: pittsburgh, pa | Shimano tekotas are great but clickers are quiet until youjump to the 700s which are too big for muskies. Okuma convectors are solid reels. I have a few that are going on 8 years that all i jave doneis replace drag washers in them. Okuma catalinas are great as well. I know for the older catalinas and convectors the guts are the same. Have rebuilt a few for friends. Penn 320 linecounters are goo but dont really like there counter as paul said. Older daiwa sealines were good but the crankingpower is not as good as convectors. If it were me i would buy the convector 30d. Solid reel for the money. Iminterested in the new penn squall linecounters but they seem to have the same counter as the 320s. |

| Shimano 500 tekota LC nothing better and the clicker is plenty loud, caught many fish over 50 pulling 12 inch baits on them |
