What type paint is worthy of the durable plastic bait line, and should an individual bait first be sanded or left alone? This is a no nonsense question, and should be viewed as such. Any assanine remarks will result in me haunting the guilty peep every waking moment!:O

Posts: 260 Location: Kentucky | First course of action is to dip the bait into a vat of battery acid for at least 1/2 hour. Next, 60 grit sandpaper until the acid is gone. follow up by hanging outside in sub-zero temps. A quick trip to the local harware store to retrieve your favorite color (s) of rustoleum and start spraying!! Black is my personal fav! Covers up all those petty little mistakes!! ![]()

Posts: 3909 | If it is only a single bait, get a bottle of nail polish, rough sand your bait and commence to paintin'. Couple coats ought to do her. These days nail polish comes in all sorts of great colors, including sparkly/glittery, and some even change colors with the changing temperatures. I use it all the time on my baits (and toes, but that's another story).

Posts: 1438 | Sponge Just checked out a website this morning for a model paint used to paint the lexan on remote controlled models. Still haven't made a decision on whether to try it or not. www.parmapse.com Some cool colors there. Otherwise, I use cheap old Testors model paint from WallyWorld. Scott

Thanks Scott, I'll check that out too. I'll try each idea on different baits. My dream is to become the modern day Van Gogh of plastic bait painters, and perhaps fall in love w/ 15 different women, go crazy and cut me ear off!

Posts: 600 Location: West Bend, WI | Sponge you realy don't have to take the paint off of most baits.Take all hardware off the bait. lightly sand or scuff bait.Prime lightly then let stand.Prime one more time clamp on vise grips and go to town.I generaly start with the top and work my way down. There are many things one can do to get what you are looking for.scales use neting from fabric store or walmart.Make sure to hold tight and spray light, let dry between coats or you may get one big smear. For that swirl look get some lace.To hold these two down I use cloths pin style paper clips.Stencils are endless make these from cardboard, plastic bottles,tape,ect.........I could go on forever here so just go try it, and remember less is better,NO TOUCHING wet paint. ohh yea envirotex after and stay away from the paint brush and don't get the discount paint.Man I have more to say so e-mail me if you want. plitzzz

Posts: 938 Location: NeverNever Lake | Go to Waldo Mart and get a paintball gun. Hang that bait from a tree with a string. Makes target practice and painting one deal. Edited by RAZE1 4/23/2003 9:21 PM

Scratch the women aspect; I'm daggone fortunate to find one that has the patience of Job, the sight of a totem pole, the beauty of Helen of Troy, and the intelligence of an educator. I'll also keep the ear, as it would make it difficult to wear a pair of sunglasses; I'd have to snap off one side of the frame...I can smell the fumes, and as of yet have started to paint the first bait...
