Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | On your "average" muskie outting (saying not THE TRIP of the year to the ULTIMATE desitination) how many baits do you bring in the boat with you? Just packed the box for the first day out on the water (see my signature), and have found that over the last 3 years I have begun to have a habit of seeing how LITTLE I can bring. Down to 13 baits, and only one of them is new for '03!

Location: Woodstock, IL | All of them! That adds up to one hanging lure box with approx. 30 lures and one "all purpose" box with terminal tackle, bass/walleye lures, tools, etc.
Pretty sad. Had to buy a bigger boat to hold all the crap! |

Location: Minneapolis, MN | I have gone from the extreme end of draging my entire basement with me and changing baits every 5 mintues to bringing as few baits as I can and never changing them during the day. I think each season I actually only work the baits I put in my clear vision tubes in the morning....which is only about 3 per day. |

| I don't get to go that often, and the tendency to take all me baits is at times overwhelming; the stress of thinking that I need to use all of them in a given day in order to justify having them is high also. Often times I'll pick through the baits and picture myself using them; as I set some aside, I'll sometimes pick them back up, creating a mental battle that lasts for awhile. The best thing I can do is to take a couple of each type bait needed and learn to use those and gain confidence in each bait. I have volumes of "mental musky" pics. to fall back on when I come home scoreless, and find solace in the fact that some day, my prince will come...an exerpt from Snow White. I have already chosen me baits for Cave Run; 48 baits and an assortment of bucktails will round out me itenerary for the excursion. I have each bait individually wrapped and stored in a laundry bag, which hopefully will fit in whatever boat I can commandeer.;) |

Location: Bemidji, MN- | I have my lures organized in seven 3700 Plano Boxes arranged as follows: Bucktails/Spinnerbaits, Jerks/Gliders, Topwaters, Crankbaits-Shallow, Crankbaits-Deep, Jigs/Creatures/Miscellaneous, large Fall lures. Those are all stored in my boat, except the large Fall lures if it isn't Fall. If I go with someone else, I usually put the most productive "go to" confidence ones in two boxes, probably 25 lures, taking them and another 3700 containing extraction tools and first aid kid. I keep trying to keep inventory under control, but just bought a couple lures I didn't have - Dorazio marabou bucktail, and Lindy Tube.

Location: Pelican Lake/Three Lakes Chain | I usually tote about 150-200 with me. You never want to be without the hot bait your partner is nailing them on. I generally don't use more thatn 10-12 a day but you never know what you might need throughout the day. |

Location: Illinois-Indiana | I bring them all, sometimes I will leave a box in the truck but usually need all of them HA! HA! Every time I leave something at home, that's the lure I want to use when out on the water. I don't unpack my boat, all my gear stayes in the boat year round so it's always ready to go!!!!!!!!!! |

Location: Fonda IA | Learned a hard lessen last year.Made myself a small box of go to lures.Went to a new lake with my go to box and end up watching my buddy whale on'em cause he had the color they want and I had something close with me but I had the lure at home.Never again will not have my arsenal with me.Rather be ready then be wishing.Blummer |

Location: Presque Isle Wisconsin | Usually arrange my baits in small boxes by Lake type. Each box contains about 15 lures. Some boxes are put together for a specific Lake;ie Crab Lake box has 12 baits that I know will produce the best out there no matter what conditions are present.I can understand bringing the entire array if its a new body of water you havt fished before.Once you know the body of water the list can be paired down a lot. The last consideration for me is color,but for most of the season Im fishing depths where color is not a primary factor.My most unusual box is the one for flowages as I like to be a little radical in really dark water ( Its paid off!! ). Fred Johnson made up some double bladed tinsel tails for me that Ive added to the flowage box |

Location: Pewaukee, Wisconsin | I usually bring 1/2 to 3/4 of my arsonal. This is why I need a 620 and all of its storage. You can also ask about the number of rods, this gets out of hand when you have the options of dragging suckers, trolling small baits/large baits, casting all the different types of lures like small cranks, large cranks, top water, twitchin, burning bucktails, ect. Usually have about 10 to 12 rods on board at all times. |

Location: God's Country......USA..... Western Wisconsin | Generally about 60 or so lures. This does not count Jigs and plastics. Usually about 30 jigs or so, that would be 5 each of 6 different weights and colors. Also 2 to 3 hundred lizards, twisters and other assorted jig trailers though. |

All my stuff is always in my boat,
except for the big cranks for fall trolling.
I manage to keep it all stashed so it isn't in the way. I"m not into changing baits every 10 minutes, so I get by on 5 or 6 baits a day.
I'd rather have it and not use it, than to want it and not have it! |

Location: in the white boat | Slamr, you neglected to mention that 12 of your 13 are HR Shakers.
I will carry somewhere around 25-30 with me on familiar water. When I go to a new lake I carry everything but the kitchen sink until I get a pattern developed, then its down to the bare minimum of around 12 or so. |

| how many baits in my boat? waaaay too many!!! but it's not my fault; when you got a boat with so much frickin' storage space, you gotta fill them up. ask musky fever how much room he has in his crestliner cvx182... i have the big lakewood filled, plus the large storage locker in front of the console is filled with (10)plano #3730 boxes... i end up throwing maybe 15 of them in a 16 hour day- go figure...

Location: Kawartha Lakes, Ontario | I use a custom made (by me) hanging box with about 30 baits + 15 soft plastics (jigs, trailers, creatures, etc.). The box also holds all of my release tools and other goodies. I don't know why I bring all of these baits with me every trip because I only use 3 or 4 in a day. I guess you never really know what bait will be hot on a certain day. Better safe than sorry I guess.
