I'm heading to Ash Rapids Lodge, a 30-minute boat ride SW of Kenora near the mouth of the channels leading to Shoal Lake. The water is apparently crystal clear in this area, which doesn't excite me all that much, but we'll make due. The group I'm going with have caught muskies every year, but not many, although the ones they encounter are often tanks. Has anyone fished in this clear waters of Kenora area, or better yet, Ash Bay?

Sam:

To get out of the real clear waters of Ash Rapids all you need to do is head east for around 10 miles. Water is much darker on the east end of Ptarmigan Bay.

Thanks Doug. As I understand it, the fish are far fewer in between, but the ones that are there are typically quality fish. Any truth to that?

Has anyone fished the rapids from Ash Bay to Shoal?
