Been fishing Muskie for 7 years or so and we have not had a ton of luck at night. One night we casted and casted around a bouye and then spot lighted to navigate our way home and spot lighted some fish... one big girl darted.... we had packed up just trolled in after.... not trying to "harass" the fish made me wounder about the bite.... we did not swing a lure at them as knew we already had and I am OCD legal and fair fishing.... PROBLEM is snagged some reeds (okay laugh) almost drove boat in (laugh again).... at night... GOOD thing is good GPS map and time on lake trust map and works..... BUT if cannot trust lake.... nervous on map (as off at times and dark) DO FISH hit in deeper water at night trolling?

Side note: We have fully home made lure we make that works during day, but our glow in the dark model.... thumbs down SO far! Not the only lure thrown BTW tried top water and spinners etc. Only caught two at night and as night owls I am beginning to wonder at our methods....

fish the same spots you fish during the day. I haven't done much on glow in the dark lures day or night. darker lures show up better in the dark believe it or not

yep, dark patterns and just be careful. if you haven't fished a spot much in the day, make sure and get there a couple hours before dark and note any areas to be cautious of both mentally and on your gps, and if its a spot you fish alot in the day just take your time and use your familiarity.

One of my local lakes is very clear and deep enough to get lake trout stocked in it regularly. This lake is not quite 1000 acres and also has good walleye, SM bass and perch populations. Whitefish are also present. This lake is a low density musky lake but has big fish potential. Lots of boat traffic in the summer months. I only fish this lake a few times each year and so far only in the summer. I have never raised or saw a musky while casting there. One night a few years ago I boated a heavy 48 and a 40 incher while trolling a large jointed crankbait in a walleye pattern. Both of those fish hit in 30 plus feet of water in the middle of the night. I have never used live bait (suckers) but plan to before October. I think this the place place to break my personal best of 52 inches. Just my experience, hope it helps . Good luck.
