Just got back from Eagle Lake last week, 78 degrees on Sunday, 65 by Tuesday, rained all Monday and Tuesday, water temp went from 72 to 66. Lake was a little high and weeds where low, some places not all all. Most of our normal spots did not produce. We changed strategies on Tuesday afternoon and started seeing more fish.
Raised 42 total, lost 12 and caught 14, 9 over 40", all in all a good week. Stayed at Century Lodge on the south end, we must of made the right choice, as we seen many boats from the lodges on the north end traveling all the way down to the south end.

42 raised?! Nice. May I asked what strategy changes you made? Curious, because our annual trip is next week (not to Eagle, this year - but I've been to Century a few times) and for some reason all these high water / late spring posts have my mind spinning a little more than usual.

We usually fish islands with weed patches, rock reefs in open water some with weeds some not, find the weeds you'll find the fish, this year little to no weeds. We did try a lot of our normal spots every day but nothing was happening. Late ice out, high water, and no weeds the fish did not transition out to the open areas yet. So we started fishing the bays which we normally do not. We found you had to go all the way back into the bays, I mean way back in the shallow water. Lots of buggy wips and rice grass, pain in the but cleaning the lures on every cast, and hard to do figure 8's, but that's where the fish where at, right up next to shore, some fish came out right from shore. We tried a few diff. lures, but we caught 95% of the fish on Ghost Tails series 200, with double number 8 blades, which you can only get from theaboat.com site, they have them made special for them. Colors - mostly black with silver nickle blades, chartruese with chartruese blades. Hope this helps, let us know how you do. Good Luck.
