Posts: 174 Location: Naperville, IL | I just had TONS of fly fishing gear dumped on me by a family memeber, I have no use for it and would like to sell it but I have no info on how well Fly fishing equipment holds its value. Anyone have experience with this stuff?

Posts: 174 Location: Naperville, IL | I have 6 martin reels, I will have to get you the models after work. And about 7000 yards of line Lol only one rod a Berkeley 8foot. From the looks, I would say it is all unused but around 5-6 years old.

Posts: 4343 Location: Smith Creek | Unused lines can fetch some good coin if stored properly. I'm afraid if those Martins are 5-6 years old they're not worth a whole lot, 20-30 bucks if they're automatics, 5-10 if they're not. Rod is probably worth about 20-30.

Posts: 34 | Fly line can be quite expensive ($50-90 for a spool and up) so there is a good market even for used fly line on ebay. I have sold used fly line before on ebay and gotten some decent money out of it. But since you have all this stuff, have you considered learning to fly fish? I have caught muskie and big northern fly fishing. It is a blast if you have the proper heavy equipment. I almost exclusively fly fish now.
