7' Med/Hvy Pwr, 3/4 to 8oz, i have a 8" tdr Hvy for an out rod and have been running baits up to 10" believers and perchbaits and works well but dont want to run anything larger, would this ugly stick rod work well as a down rod for larger baits, 10" believer to plows and larger custom baits. Looks like it should be pretty bullet proof since the eyes are solid metal with no inserts to pop out.

I was also considering the 6'6" BWB in hvy or med hvy but heard complaints of the eye inserts popping out.

It is a bulletproof rod although it may be abit soft with big lures. I've got an arsenal of them I use for catfishing and havent used them for trolling so I can't say firsthand but I think they could work. You could always get one to try first, but I'd go heavy.

The tiger is only availible in med hvy, i know alot of guys use the med action for trolling on st clair, so i figured the med hvy may handle large baits.

Tigers are/were available in 3 weight sizes in the BWC series, which are very popular for trolling on LSC. 7' one piece are nice. Not sure if they still make the 6' 6" one piece, or the 2 piece.

Much higher quality rod than a TDR, you wouldn't be disappointed.

BWC-2200 - Med light
BWC-2201 - Medium (most popular)
BWC-2202 - Medium Heavy (I use this for Plows, Hookers, Deep Threats, Parrywinkles, Wishmasters etc)

Yeah, I've got two of the 7' Medium heavy and I've used those for trolling everything. Thanks handle big baits no problem. (plows, talonz dragon claw, etc.)

This is impossible. No inserts in these guides. They are stainless saltwater guides.

I've had these rods for 7 years, each has dozens of muskies and snags on them with not one issue. Both still look new. Would highly recommend the MH to anyone. If I can run a 5" tuff shad and see the tip thump, then swith to a 14" Plow and it still runs, that's one hell of a fishing rod.
