Posts: 75 | I have a friend bringing his daughter and wife up for a visit in a few weeks. Niether of them have ever caught a pike, but he'd like them to have a chance at some. Does anyone have a lake/pond around the metro they'd be willing to suggest? It doesn't even have to have any good sized ones, just full of hammer handles. They'd also have to be fishing from shore. Thanks.

Posts: 118 Location: Minnesota | Not to hard to find the pike on Tonka lately. We've caught them all the way to 39.5" since opener. Bucktails and 4-5" phantoms have caught the most.

Posts: 1360 Location: Lake "y" cause lake"x" got over fished | Lake Minnetonka hands down. Cast spinners or rattle traps and I can almost guarantee you will hookup. Try bright ridiculous colors too. Reds, Oranges, Neon pinks and purples. and of course chart. Since you will be from shore, Rattle traps might not be your friend. Go and get a firetiger daredevil. Or a copper and orange hammered daredevil and reel them in with relatively good speed Edited by FAT-SKI 6/30/2014 4:10 PM

Posts: 76 Location: MPLS Metro | Deer Lake in Buffalo. Really nice pike and a lot of them. Also has some good size largies. Always a fun lake to hit up.

Posts: 633 | Nathan, If you live on the North Side of the metro, and looking to fish from shore, you can stop by, and check Long Lake in New Brighton. Otherwise the dam at Peltier has some swimming below it. You could also check the Coon Rapids dam. If you had a boat, I would recommend Coon Lake. Lance

Posts: 1000 | Honestly if you throw spinnerbaits, rapalas, or jig/swimbaits along any weedline with interesting structure I don't think you'll have a problem getting a dozen northerns. I find clearer lakes work better

Posts: 3147 | if you troll rattle traps on the weedline on Tonka you should get a stringer full
