I know some of you don't fish with a radio on, but I do like to from time to time. The rig I just bought has a nice radio installed from the factory but doesn't have reception worth a #*^@. Anyone have any suggestions on an easy to install antenna on the smaller side?

Touché Shep. Wish I had something like that in the budget.

I went to Advanced Auto and picked the one I like the shape size of best. Any auto parts store should have a good selection. Took me about 5 minutes to install.

Do you have a marine radio? If so, you could try the separator kit. Shakespeare P/N 4357.

West marine should have them. I had one in my 2002 Lund, and it worked much better than the stock fold down little antenna.

I think my radio has issues period. I can connect my iPhone, but can't adjust the volume to a level high enough to hear. It's not a marine radio so I will have to look to the Advance a Auto options. Thanks guys

just stick a wire about a foot long in the center hole on your Motorola antenna connector on your radio. strip off about an inch of the insulation. the water is a big ground plane. your reception will be good. we use this method on lake erie and it works well.
