| I am way up north... last year it was cooler water.... they were in sand flats by weeds. The males were still protecting the eggs and females I was leery to fish as on sand flats above weeds... plan to check that out should be done spawning as warmer temps this year.... I don't want to fish during spawning but as cooling down again this week they will be in warmer areas transitional guessing...... will try inlets if warmer and sand flats, weeds if any shallow.... then go to sharp drop offs if not in shallows... |

Location: Maple Grove, MN | First thing I do is look for cabbage on the inside weedlines and slam spinner baits through it until I get bored. After about 15 or 20 minutes of that with no action, I then hit the deep edge with deep running spinner baits or 6 inch heavy weighted plastic baits. If no action there, then I go look for deep structure and might even fish it. And then I go look for a good place to get a hamburger. Gotta have a plan.:-) |
