Posts: 4343 Location: Smith Creek | That's their only heat source. They're poor, remember? Dude can barely afford earings. His wife needs to defend him cause he can't afford a PC. Edited by Flambeauski 6/10/2014 7:57 AM

Posts: 1901 Location: MN | Captain - 6/10/2014 7:38 AM I think it will be pretty hard for them to prosecute him for this individual "offense" since so much time has elapsed. The pictures and his "story" wouldnt hold up or warrant any prosecution IMO. Agreed, difficult at best without any evidence. But i'll bet they keep an eye on him.

Posts: 1037 | Totally hope that someone on Muskie First near her offers to get Dianne in a boat and chase a musky around. That would be a really nice ending to that ugly article. Fingers crossed. Edited by vegas492 6/10/2014 8:30 AM

Posts: 1168 | I've followed that conversation on Jerry's Facebook page and even though I'm pretty sure Jerry and I have sparred on here every now and then (I could say that about almost everyone) I want to commend him for the offer he made to this guy and his wife to discuss the importance of the regulations and protections that are in place. He's kept his responses pretty level headed when others were crossing a few lines letting their emotions run amok. Good job Jerry. I hope they take you up on your offer and for all of us it's a good example of keeping our cool in something we are passionate about.

Posts: 13688 Location: minocqua, wi. | is it as simple as the difference between a native spearing that is protected under federal authority vs. a guy who takes that same right based on his own perceived authority? if so, and i think the answer is yes then the guy is a poacher and the target happens to be muskies but wouldn't be limited to that from his frame of reference. that being said, hopefully the authorities respond with a limit on his personal rights as a penalty. being nice to people like that is nice, but what is just?

Location: MN | I was very impressed by the response I received from Diane. I think the HPR handled this well. If this fish was indeed harvested in the fall, which I highly doubt is true, do you think it was a legal (48 incher)? It is always tough to tell the true size from pictures. I would guess 43-45. I doubt you could prosecute based off this evidence but hopefully they will be keeping a close eye on this moron. It looks like he poaches more than muskies.

If you scroll down his facebook page (past the cartoons) and you take the guy at his word (not necessarily easy to do with a moron) it was a: 37" Silver Phase Northern Pike ***Rare Fish*** (3 photos)

Posts: 437 | Hawkeye, those are two different fish. The pictures of the musky in the story have been deleted. They were on his page earlier, but he deleted them yesterday when the $hIt hit the fan. Clearly two different fish. The one in the story is absolutely a musky. The one still on his page is probably a legit silver pike.

Posts: 21 | So he won the Powerball? Blew the money on meth and millions of muskie lures and now can't afford a $20,000 boat to join the "rich white guy sport"? Or am I confused? Lol, did his wive remove her posts from Jerry post or am I not seeing them anymore?

QUOTE] I can't find a single reason to be cordial to him....sounds like he wanted trouble and trouble he got. Calmly listening to your adversary's words and turning them against him is more impactful than shouting "you suck" over and over. You're not being cordial, you're giving him the rope by which to hang himself. He thinks you're being cordial and that's the trick. False sense of comfort, he opens up more thinking he is not playing defense and can't claim that he gave an emotional response in the heat of the moment. Going to guns over and over makes him dig his spurs in. It gives you more latitude to point out hypocrisy.
