Posts: 158 | Hello MuskieFirst. I need some advice on my Coolhubs on my Ranger trailer. My fishing partner noticed some excessive oil residue on one of my hubs last night, so I am looking to replace the Coolhub oil with some new synthetic hub oil this week. Season is quickly approaching in MN as you may know. My question is...will just replacing the oil stop the oil leak? Or should I also look into replacing some bearing seals. Watching some how-to vids, they don't mention any seals that I might replace although one video advise this would take care of a leaking problem. Thanks, Teddy B

Posts: 158 | Patience with research never has been a strength of mine. I found another clip showing the O-ring and seal replacement which still doesn't look very difficult. I will still take any tips you all could advise.

Posts: 165 Location: tHe LaKe Of PrIoR, mN | It's easy to do you need to change all the seals. you can call ranger to get all the correct parts for the job I would recommend using the Lucas hub oil I changed seals on mine last year and added the Lucas hub oil I have put a ton of miles on my trailer since and have yet to see the oil discolor... Not sure what year yours is but some of the hubs you fill to the top and other you half fill that is a question for ranger I suppose...

Tip: Metro area AIS inspectors are stepping up enforcement on other pollutants like hub oil. Stay away from Tonka. They won't be biting anyway!

Posts: 158 | Thanks Crix. I am hoping West Marine has the seals and O-rings I need. Will be buying Lucas hub oil, appreciate the heads up. Looking...you know I am heading over to the in-laws tomorrow night! Ben...just save me a spot in Das Finder so I don't have to deal with the inspectors. You know I get nervous easy. TB

Posts: 734 Location: Watertown, MN | Been through mine several time, just probably need to clean out the hubs, pull the clip and get all the grit out from the inside of the hub and apply lube on the inner seal that slide in and out as pressure builds. I use just straight 50w oil, one trick is a little gasket sealer around were seal rest against the flange on the hub, Troyz
