| What makes the new Revo Winch worth the extra $100 over the new Orra Winch?

| Other than the designation "Winch" there is really quite a bit of difference between the two reels. The Orra has a 5.4:1 gearing and 15 lb drag. Toro is 4.6:1 with 22 lbs of drag. Both retrieve 22 inches of line per handle turn. However the Orra is essentially a bass sized reel while the Toro is a big game reel. Lots more line capacity on the Toro. I suspect that the surface area of the gears in the Toro are probably larger which lends itself to handling large baits that put a lot of resistance on the gears better than a bass sized reel. If you're considering using it for small baits like lipless rattle baits, small bucktails (think Mepps 5) or things like Rapala Husky Jerks you'd probably be fine. If you're using larger lures with more resistance like deep diving crankbaits or larger bucktails then I'd definitely consider the Toro. Frankly I think both of these would be considered more of an application specific reel and there are probably better choices for a general purpose reel. |

| Not the Toro Winch, just the Winch. The 2013 Revo Winch and the 2014 Orra Winch. With the exception of alloy vs graphite and 20lbs vs 15lbs of drag, they are spec'd the same: 5.4:1, 22 IPT, 12/180yds. Just trying to figure out what the $100 extra gets you, and if it's worth it.

Location: Pewaukee, WI | One thing to consider is that with Abu Garcia you have a well established company that is very customer friendly in repairing or replacing your reel when it takes a dump and with parts that are readily available most everywhere. |

Maybe you should check out the Abu website.
I would still consider the Orra nothing more than a bass reel. Not to fond of the 15lb drag weight. |

| I bought a blue revo winch 5.4 bass model 2 years ago and paired with my 7' lamiglass for small stuff.looks the same as my toro winch just mini, It claims 25lb drag and has the same hpcr bearings and so far has been tough as hell.super light holds enough line for my small river fishing.first trip out with it I chucked a perchbait and caught a 28" Wally and a 40" Muskie back to back. Handle the fish and lure as good as my bigger reels. Liked it a lot and might buy another but there kinda hard to find i think they could have Ben discontinued. |

Just can't figure out why they'd offer 2 different reels at $100 difference in price, that are basically spec'd the same. Sure the Revo has 5lbs more drag and better metal in some places, but other than that is the Revo Winch really $100 better than the Orra Winch? And if so, how?

Location: Tennessee | I use an Orra Winch on what is basically a really heavy 'bama rig rod with 16" handle I had custom built for throwing small cranks, under 1oz and a few other small lures. I've had no issues with mine although throwing 7/8 Rattletraps, it's a workout if you try to burn them. Not hung a big muskie on it, but I'm sure it would work fine, many people are too paranoid about destroying gear if they aren't rated for bluefin tuna. |

I have an Orra for Bass fishing but I don't believe it would hold up to casting big heavy muskie lures. The Revo Toro line is the way to go for lures heavier then 2-3oz. Muskie reels take a beating and require heavy duty components.
You could always try it and see. |

Location: Western U.P. | Not sure about the component difference between the Orra and Winch, but just saw a few different sales on ebay of NIB Winch's sell for around $100. Been considering one for a heavy Bass/Spring Musky rod. |
