My 2006 Yamaha F250 won't go into gear. The motor starts just fine and when I go to put it into gear it only revs up and nothing engages. I can see throttle cables in motor working but I can't hear anything try to engage. Prop spins in neutral and the button on the throttle is not stuck. Any thought?

Does the shift cable move the linkage under the cowling?

Got it fixed, when I replaced the impeller I didn't line up the gear linkage when putting the lower unit back on. Live and learn!
