| Just saw a commercial for the "Chef Wizard" featuring Patsy Popiel(?), and she was explaining the many benefits of this exciting new kitchen aid; the part where she took a boiled egg from a pot of potatoes had me on the edge of me seat, and then she floored me when she took the tool and picked up a dime; what had me perplexed was the fact that she made the statement "a thin dime"...are not ALL dimes basically the same thickness, or are there "thick" dimes that some of us haven't seen yet? I was under the assumption that our monetary system was pretty much the same nationwide, and that coinage was equal in size...and while we're at it, who boils eggs/potatoes simuntaniously in the same pot? I detect a hint of deception in recent advertising, and one can only wonder where all this may lead; young minds are very impressionable, and I for one am concerned where the visual media is headed...anyone else notice this, can someone explain the coinage deal??? | |||

Posts: 32958 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Sure! The thin dime thing is a reference to the dimes I make in my laborious daily duties. Our Canadian friends have dimes like that too, but the dollar there is especially thin right now. Then there is the French Franc, which is currently associated with the Russian Ruble, which is invested heavily in Iraq's Oil Fields, and in loans to our good friend, Saddam. That is where the chicken in the taters comes about, so weak a committment that it is only an egg.
The US and Brits are supplying the hot water.
OK, OK, so this isn't a muskie topic. Don't blame me, Sponge started it!

| In a round-a-bout way it does speak of muskies Stever! The mere hint of warm water can be blended in to create a miniature lake, albeit the fact that the water is contained in a pot w/ eggs/ potatoes...muskies live in water, the females lay eggs, many musky fisher peeps eat potatoes, so I feel that a relationship between post and musky can and has been established. I'd like to note also that a diner in North Carolina has lead the nation in renaming our beloved FRY to the Freedom Fry. Looks like the Brits now have backed up as far as troops go, but that is ok, 'cause they are still w/ us, much more than I can say about france, w/ a small f...let the registers ring w/ FREEDOM/PATRIOT FRIES; you can take the "french" out of fries, but you can't take the fries out of AMERICA... | |||

Posts: 484 Location: St. Louis, MO., Marco Is., FL, Nestor Falls, ON | Sponge: Didn't you ever eat potato salad? First you have to have boiled potatoes and hard boiled eggs. The thin dime comes from carrying it around in your pocket too long. It wears against all the other coins you carry and becomes thinner over time. This only happens to misers and penny pinchers. The reason you were not aware of this is because we all know you never have a dime in your pocket....only large bill folding money.
