The holey one is the pope model

Just checked mine that I got last year and mine not the pope model - no hole. My guess its a drain hole.

AIR HOLES
DO NOT USE FOR OIL OR GREASE !!!!!!
I'm seeing alot of very rusted reels, DO NOT store your rod and reel in boat lockers at home, take out the rod and reel and let them dry out in a warm place.
A set of spool bearings and AR bearing is over $40.00 if they get rusted and have to be replaced.
